With more than two thousand years of history Verona is the second largest city in Veneto thanks to its thriving economy and its cultural and natural attractions. It is indeed a special and charming place to live in and to buy a property!

If you decide to live in Verona you will be fascinated by the city’s romantic Medieval streets, monuments, museums and churches. Indeed, the city’s geographical proximity to Lake Garda, its quaint medieval city center and its role as the literary home of Romeo and Juliet make Verona one of the most popular attractions for tourists.

In particular, Verona has become famous for featuring in Shakespeare’s settings in “Romeo and Juliet” – Juliet’s house with its famous balcony, Juliet’s tomb and Romeo’s house are just a few examples. Another unmissable attraction is the Arena di Verona, a Roman amphitheater which is located in the historical center of Verona. Watching one of the many operas that take place in the amphitheater is a breathtaking experience.

The food in Verona is amazing. Traditional dishes are the “bollito con la pearà”, which is boiled beef with breadcrumbs, cheese and marrow-based sauce, and “gnocchi” – delicious dumplings made of dough with potatoes, flour and eggs.  There is both a sweet version of the dumplings with cinnamon and sugar, and a savory version with tomato sauce. Verona is also the land where the Nano Vialone Veronese rice is produced, making it one of the best cities to try excellent risottos. Verona also has excellent wines such as the red Bardolino and Valpolicella, and the white wines Custoza and Soave.

Walking around Verona is the best option to explore the city center but the city also has excellent public transport. Driving from Verona to cities such as Milan, Venice and Bologna is also very easy and all of these cities are well connected by train.

If you are a more of an urban kind of person, you will definitely enjoy Verona’s buzzing city center.

On the other hand, if you are more of a chilled kind of person, you will enjoy Verona’s prosperous and hilly surroundings. The city lies along the banks of the river Adige and it is surrounded by the Mountains Lessini. These mountains are stunning and if you feel like going for relaxing walks this will be the ideal place for you. It is indeed an idyllic and bucolic environment!
